The Story so far
The group was formed in March 2010 with the aim of collecting, researching and recording the history of the Parish .
Since our formation we have held 8 exhibitions, provided illustrated talks , (especially on the unique WWI training trenches ) worked with the PCNA and local Community Council in providing information boards on the trenches and village history.
We are currently updating the 1984 graveyard plan, producing a history of the school, providing family information as requested both by visitors and locals and collating information from various 1953 films and photos of events in the village in the 1970/80.
The Graveyard plan is now complete and a map can be found in the Church Porch. Inside the church is a folder listing those buried in the churchyard, A to Z by Surname. For those wishing to access this list who do not live nearby then please contact [email protected] or [email protected] we can provide you with a photo of the grave and details of the inscription.
Future projects include the Chapel history , Penally Brownies/guides, and the families of the Parish . An Exhibition was held in September 2023 focusing on notable past Penally Residents.
